We all have a story. This is our story. A delightful, humorous, yet occasionally dispirited comparative of then and now that explores life after a devastating loss of income – and our home.

How many like me are out there? According to news reports and the Internet, tens of thousands of hapless ex-homeowners, including their families, billet in quarters orchestrated from necessity rather than choice. According to the statistics compiled by “Realty Trac”, nearly twenty million home foreclosures have been reported from 2005 to 2012.

Where are these inauspicious casualties of greed and self-indulgence? Where and how do they exist? Does anyone care? Did anyone care? When Cynthia and I were foreclosed upon, no one asked the where or the how. But we asked, “Where do we live? How do we pay? How will we survive this foreclosure?”

Surviving a foreclosure is a mere subplot to the true-life adventure that had to be written. With the expectation of tranquilizing my anger / ‘F’ attacks, Cynthia said, “Your feelings – write them down – It’s therapeutic.” I did – and could not stop.

“Nobody’s Nomad” describes a narrative of camp and camper woes and wows written and disclosed by those of us that experienced the adventures. Presented in the first person with no presumption of reward or recognition other than to share a great story or two, the kindred souls of campground humor conjure up their best.

Laugh your butt off, or ‘til the tears flow at the funniest RV tale ever told – a true ten on the ten-scale. Commiserate with this bamboozled author and his torment over a broken home, crippled at a truck stop with twenty or more eighteen-wheelers blessing themselves in sympathy. Shed real heartfelt tears when you meet a true American hero. Witness ‘Providence in Action’ as Cynthia and I traverse the roads to acceptance and peace . . . and unravel the significance contained in the nine profound words to weather a foreclosure.

Nobody Nomad eBook W G Warren Reviews

I generally don't post negative reviews, probably all those years of my mom saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!" and in many ways this is really not a negative review -- despite the fact that I actively disliked this book and returned it. That is a result, perhaps, of my mistake so I'm really writing this in hopes of preventing others from making the same mistake -- that is, I took this to be a book about the author and his wife living and traveling in their RV after they lost their home to foreclosure. I was actively looking for a book that was actively about RV life.

And, in the most minimal sense, this book is about RV life, but way too minimal for it to have satisfied my needs. There are multiple references to this being a book of humor, but the main section of humorous stories comes from the author's former experience at a Ferrari dealership -- and while the stories *are* funny, they didn't have anything to do with RVing.

There are long drawn-out sections railing at greed and what led to the economic and home-foreclosure crises and while I have no particular objection to the author's observations, they sure weren't about RVing.

The author admits to frequent bouts of explosive anger where expletives become the language of choice (note that the expletives are not *in* the book itself, just referred to as an indicator of his anger) and his wife offers some intriguing insights into what might be the cause. He explores this in considerable depth and depending on your interest in such things, you might find it fascinating. But it wasn't about RVing.

In fact, as I said at the beginning, I'm perfectly willing to accept that my dissatisfaction came not, per se, from the book's failings, but from it failing to meet my expectations that it was primarily about RV living. (I do think the photos on the cover, the title, and the description are somewhat complicit in leading me to that inaccurate expectation.) I gave it 4 stars since the actual quality of writing was quite good (although a few typos which always annoy me) and if someone is looking for a rambling memoir that only peripherally has to do with RVing, one might thoroughly enjoy this book as clearly other reviewers have. Just consider that forewarned is forearmed and buy it with your eyes open as to what you're getting.
Should be a best seller
